Current computers

At this page, I'll keep a list of active avaliable computers I am building and using.

Lisbeth, the main laptop and workstation

Lisbeth is my main computer, a beautiful Lenovo Thinkpad W530 running Arch Linux x86_64. Here are the quick specs:
  • CPU: Intel core i7 3610QM 2,3 GHz, with hyper-threading, featuring Intel HD graphics 4000.
  • Memory: 4+8+8 GB DDR3, 1600 MHz.
  • HDD: Intel SSD, 180 GB.
  • GPU: nVidia Quadro K1000M with 2G graphics memory, Optimus.
  • Screen: 1600x900 pixels, TN-panel with ~60% color representation
  • Optical: DVD±RW DL, nothing fancy.
  • Battery: 2x 9-cell 94 Wh, gives me roughly 15 hours of schoolwork and a steady four hours of playing minecraft on the discrete graphics.
  • OS: Arch Linux x86_64

CuBox, the home server

The CuBox, simply named after it's model number, is a small 2x2x2 inch ARM-computer currently in use as a home server. Quick specs:
  • CPU: Marvell Armada clocked at 800 MHz.
  • Memory: 1 GB DDR3, 800 MHz.
  • HDD: 2 GB micro-SD card, external HDD enclosure with 3x3TB formatted in a RAID5 array with 6TB of storage
  • GPU: Integrated in the main CPU, LOTS of video codecs supported.
  • Other: 2x USB, 1x eSATA, HDMI, and optical audio.
  • OS: Arch Linux ARM
  • Services: SMB server, NFS server.

Kerstin, the jukebox

Kerstin is an old Fujitsu Siemens system, the same model as the old Kerstin, but not to be confused with her. She's running as a music player (aka jukebox), remote controlled via any MPD client. The music is stored on the CuBox. Quick specs:
  • CPU: Intel Pentium III, 994 MHz.
  • Memory: 2x256 MB DDR memory
  • HDD: 20 GB IDE hard drive
  • GPU: Intel integrated chpiset (less important for this machine)
  • Sound: Creative Audigy 2 PCI expansion board
  • Optical: CD-ROM slim-drive.
  • Other: USB WiFi-dongle
  • OS: Debian 7 "Wheezy", currently the "testing" branch.
  • Services: MPD server

Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi is at the moment running as a streaming media center with OpenELEC. It gets the media from the CuBox via SMB.
  • CPU: Broadcomm SoC clocked at 700 MHz
  • Memory: 512 MB DDR2
  • HDD: 512 MB SD card
  • GPU: integrated on the SoC, external VPU with hardware acceleration for H.264-video
  • Network: 10/100 wired, optional USB WiFi dongle connected.
  • OS: OpenELEC
  • Services: XBMC media center
